Grizzly Bear Refuge

Kicking Horse Mountain Resort features the Kicking Horse Grizzly Bear Refuge, the largest enclosed and protected grizzly bear habitat in the world. This is the home of our resident grizzly bear, Boo.

The refuge is open daily during the summer and provides guests the opportunity to observe an adult grizzly bear going about his daily routine. There’s nothing routine about it, however, because you never know what you might see. Boo splashes in the water to cool off, scratches his back against trees, digs up burrowing rodents for snacks, and stands on his hind legs to sniff the air.
